The following pages show pictures of the old mainline Great Central Railway in the years before closure in the 1960's, and the presently preserved section between Loughborough and North Leicester.

I was a frequent traveller on the GCR in the 1960's, and was sad to witness its closure. I was fortunate to purchase the totem shown below, of the station I visited many times, at a sale of railwayana at Stoke in the late 1960's, for the princely sum of £1-10-0.
